The Bagués Hotel 5* in Barcelona is located in a building that forms part of the city's architectural, historic and artistic heritage. It was built in 1850 by Josep Fontserè i Domènech, a leading architect in Renaissance architecture. The building was used as the Masriera jewellery-workshop for many years. Lluís Masriera was the forefather of modernism in Spain and one of the most important Art Nouveau jewellers in the world. The interior design of the hotel was inspired by the style of the architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, using thinner, simpler lines in Art Nouveau.
